In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ...
—1 Peter 1:6-7
Adversity builds character, or so I have been told. I confess that I find the Apostle James' exhortation,
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials," (Jas. 1:2) a lot easier said than done sometimes. But if we become reflective and think about divine sovereignty, then perhaps we can see what good can come from the trials and ordeals of life.
